Bu araştırmanın amacı, farklı branşlarda yarışan sporcuların beden imajlarını algılama düzeylerini belirlemektir. Bu amaçla; İstanbul, Kocaeli, Ankara, Sakarya, Aydın, Bilecik, Samsun, Kayseri, Kütahya, Hatay illerinden; atletizm, bilek güreşi, basketbol, futbol, hentbol, halter, Judo, voleybol olmak üzere 8 branştan tesadüfi yöntemle seçilen toplam 480 profesyonel sporcu araştırma kapsamına alınmıştır. Sporcuların sosyo-demografik özelliklerini belirleyen bir bilgi anketinin yanı sıra; beden imajını belirlemek için Gökdoğan (1988) tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanan ve Berscheind, Walster-Bohrnstedt’in geliştirdiği Body Imaje Ouestionnary uygulanmıştır...

The purpose of this study was to determine the body image perception level of professional athletes. To this end, 480 athletes randomly selected from 8 branches and 10 provinces were included in the study. An information form was applied to determine the socio-demographic features of the athletes and the Body Image Questionnaire, developed by Berscheind and Walster-Bohrnstedt and adapted into Turkish by Gökdoğan (1988) was used to determine the body image of the athletes.
