YOZGAT İLİNİN KURAKLIK ARAŞTIRMASI VE TREND ANALİZİ

Meral KORKMAZ1

DROUGHT RESEARCH AND TREND ANALYSIS IN YOZGAT PROVINCE (TURKIYE)

Meral KORKMAZ1

Global warming and climate change cause serious environmental problems in many parts of the world in the twenty-first century. As a result of climate change, problems related to drought arise. Drought; is a natural climatic phenomenon caused by a decrease in precipitation or a moisture imbalance at any time and in the region. This study aims to evaluate the performance of drought indices and monitor future drought events. The basic climate data were analyzed by taking precipitation data between 1980 and 2021. Drought was estimated using the Standardized Precipitation Index and the percent-of-normal method using DrinC software. PNI is one of the simplest measurements of precipitation for a location. It is observed that drought variation has increased in recent years. Therefore, this study states that sustainable water resources management and drought policy should be implemented.
