Bu çalışmada PISA (Uluslararası Öğrenci Değerlendirme Programı) ve TIMSS (Uluslararası Matematik ve Fen Araştırması) projeleri tanıtılmış ve PISA 2006 kapsamında Türkiye’deki uygulamaya katılan öğrencilerin fen bilimleri yeterlilik düzeylerinin farklı değişkenler açısından incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada, PISA 2006’da Türkiye’nin durumu üzerinde durulmuş ve öğrencilerin fen yeterlilik düzeyleri, bilgi ve iletişim teknolojilerinin kullanımına yönelik bazı anket sorularına verdikleri yanıtlar göz önüne alınarak değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, öğrencilerin fen yeterlilik düzeylerinin, evlerinde dersleri ve ödevleri için kullanabilecekleri bir bilgisayar, evlerinde eğitimle ilgili bir bilgisayar programı, evlerinde internet erişimi olup olmama durumlarına ve bilgi edinmek için internetten arama yapma düzeylerine göre incelemesi gerçekleştirilmiştir. A RESEARCH ON THE SITUATION OF TURKEY IN PISA 2006: ASSESSING THE LEVEL OF SCIENCE COMPETENCY TO THE USE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

This study presents PISA and TIMMS Project and aims to investigate the science competencies of students participated in PISA 2006 in Turkey according to different variables. In the study, the situation of Turkey in PISA 2006 is deliberated and the science competencies of students in Turkey are evaluated to the answers of them related to the some questionnaire items about the use of information and communication technology. As a result, the study of science competencies of students was conducted to the case of having computer which they can use for study and homework in their home, having internet connection in their home and the level of doing research in internet. The result of analysis, the use of information and communication technologies causes to the significant differences in the science competencies of students.
