İLKÖĞRETİM İKİNCİ KADEME ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN BİLİMİN DOĞASINI ANLAMA DÜZEYLERİNİN TESPİTİ

Bu araştırmada ilköğretim ikinci kademe öğrencilerinin bilimin doğasını anlama düzeylerinin tespiti temel hedef olarak belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, öğrencilerin bilimin doğası anlayışlarının cinsiyetlerine ve sınıflarına göre farklılık gösterip göstermediği de bu çalışmada tespit edilecektir. Çalışmada, araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen “Bilimin Doğasını Anlama Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. İzmir ilinde bulunan çeşitli ilköğretim okullarından rastlantısal seçilen 6.sınıf (n=223), 7. sınıf (n=290), ve 8. sınıf (n=336), öğrencisi gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; öğrencilerin bilimin doğasını anlama düzeylerinin düşük olduğu, cinsiyete göre kızlar lehine farklılık gösterdiği ve 7.sınıf öğrencilerinin bilimin doğası anlayışlarının 6. sınıf ve 8.sınıf öğrencilerine göre daha iyi durumda olduğu saptanmıştır.

DETERMINE THE LEVEL OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN’S UNDERSTANDING OF NATURE OF SCIENCE

In this study, the main purpose of this study was to determine the level of elementary school children’s understanding of nature of science. Moreoever, the study examined whether understanding of nature of science differs between females and males and grade levels. The questionnaire “understanding of nature of science” developed by the researchers was used to collect data in this study. Among the schools in Izmir providence, randomly sixth (n=223), seventh (n=290), and eight (n=336) grade students voluntarily participated to this study. Study shows that students had low understanding of nature of science, girls had higher understanding of nature of science, and seventh grade students had higher understanding of nature of science than sixth and eighth graders.
