GENEL LİSE VE MESLEK LİSESİ ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN COĞRAFYA DERSİNE İLİŞKİN TUTUMLARI (ELBİSTAN ÖRNEĞİ)

Çalışmanın amacı, Elbistan’daki genel lise ve meslek lisesi öğrencilerinin coğrafya dersine ilişkin tutumlarını ortaya koymak ve bunları karşılaştırmaktır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, 2009-2010 öğretim yılında Elbistan’da öğrenim gören 649 genel ve meslek lisesi öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Bu araştırma, tarama modeli esas alınarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilerin toplanmasında Aydın (2009) tarafından geliştirilen “coğrafya tutum ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada toplanılan veriler SPSS programında frekans ve yüzde değer kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre, her iki lise türü öğrencilerinin coğrafya dersine karşı ilgi düzeylerinin “yüksek” ve “olumlu” olduğu görülmektedir. Her iki lise türü öğrencileri coğrafya dersine yönelik tutumlarını olumsuz yönde etkileyen en önemli hususları; “coğrafya öğretmenlerinin ders içerisindeki tutum ve performansları” ve “coğrafya derslerinin eğlenceli olmaması” olarak ifade etmişlerdir.

GENERAL HIGH SCHOOL AND VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS’ ATTITUDES TOWARDS GEOGRAPHY (AN EXAMPLE OF ELBİSTAN)

The purpose of the study is to put forth and compare the high school and vocational high school students' attitudes towards geography lessons. The research group of the study is comprised of 649 students attending to general and vocational high school students in Elbistan in 2009-2010 educational years. In data gathering process, the geography attitude scale developed by Aydyn (2009) was used. According to the results of the study, both high school type students' level of interest to geography lesson is "high" and "positive". The most important reasons of both high school type students' negative considerations towards geography lessons are "geography teachers' attitudes and performances during the lesson" and "not having fun during geography classes".
