SINIF ÖĞRETMENİ ADAYLARININ MATEMATİK ÖĞRETİMİNE YÖNELİK ÖZ YETERLİLİK İNANÇLARI: NİTEL BİR ÇALIŞMA

Matematik öğretimini geliştirmek ve dolayısıyla da öğrencilerin matematiksel konulara karşı olumlu tutumlar geliştirilmesini sağlamak son yıllarda çok fazla önem kazanmaktadır. Bu açıdan ilköğretimin ilk basamağında görev yapacak öğretmenlerinin matematik öğretimi hakkındaki inançları önemlidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, sınıf öğretmenliği ana bilim dalında öğrenim görmekte olan son sınıf öğrencilerinin matematik öğretimine yönelik öz yeterlilik inançlarını ve bu inançlarının arkasındaki nedenleri belirlemektir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden örnek olay çalışması şeklinde bu araştırma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini 2009-2010 akademik yılında Kafkas Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Sınıf Öğretmenliği ana bilim dalında eğitimine devam etmekte olan 10 son sınıf öğrencisi oluşmaktadır. Veri toplamak için araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formundan yararlanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin değerlendirilmesinde ise içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır.

PROSPECTIVE CLASSROOM TEACHERS’ SELF EFFICACY BELIEFS IN MATHEMATICS TEACHING: A QUALITATIVE STUDY

Improving mathematics teaching and as a consequence of it, developing positive attitude towards mathematics in students have gained importance in recent years. In this respect, classroom teachers’ beliefs about mathematics teaching are significant. Main purpose of this study was to determine the self efficacy beliefs of senior classroom teaching department students in mathematics teaching and the reasons behind their beliefs. This study was a qualitative case study. Sample of the study was composed of ten senior students in classroom teaching department of Kafkas University Faculty of Education in 2009 – 2010 academic year. Semi-structured interview form, which was developed by the researchers, was used for data gathering. Data gathered was analyzed with content analysis method.
