SINIF ÖĞRETMENİ ADAYLARININ MATEMATİĞE KARŞI ÖZ-YETERLİK ALGILARI

Bu araştırmanın amacı, farklı üniversitelerde öğrenim gören sınıf öğretmenliği öğretmen adaylarının matematiğe karşı öz-yeterlik algılarını incelemektir. Araştırma, tarama modelinde betimsel bir nitelik taşımaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, Ankara, Bolu ve Kütahya illerinde bulunan üç farklı devlet üniversitesinin sınıf öğretmenliği programında okuyan toplam 149 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Veriler öğretmen adaylarından 2009–2010 eğitim-öğretim yılının bahar dönemimde toplanmıştır. Verilerin toplanmasında Umay (2001) tarafından geliştirilen “Matematiğe Karşı Öz-Yeterlik Algısı Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler nicel veri analiz yöntemleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarının matematiğe karşı öz-yeterlik algıları cinsiyet ve öğrenim görülen üniversite değişkenleri göz önünde bulundurularak ortaya konmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda, sınıf öğretmenliği programında öğrenim gören öğretmen adaylarının matematiğe karşı öz-yeterlik algılarında cinsiyetler arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmazken, öğrenim görülen üniversiteye göre anlamlı farklar bulunmuştur.

PROSPECTIVE PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS’ SELF-EFFICACY BELIEFS ABOUT MATHEMATICS

The purpose of this study is to investigate mathematics self-efficacy beliefs of prospective primary school teachers from different universities. The study is a descriptive survey study. The sample of the study is 149 prospective primary school teachers from three different universities in Ankara, Bolu, and Kütahya. Data were collected from the prospective teachers in the spring semester of 2009-2010. “Mathematics Self-Efficacy Scale” developed by Umay (2001) was used for data collection. Data were analyzed by using quantitative techniques. Prospective teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs about mathematics were investigated with respect to gender and university variables. The present study demonstrated that while gender differences were found to have no significant effect on prospective teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs, university differences were found to have significant effect on their self-efficacy beliefs.
