Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, fen öğretiminde kukla kullanımının öğrencilerin sınıf içi konuşmalara katılımına ve öğrenmeye olan etkisini belirlemektir. Çalışma, Samsun ili Vezirköprü ilçesine bağlı, Bahçekonak İlköğretim Okulu, 5/A sınıfının 15 öğrencisi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmacı tarafından, 5E modeline dayalı dört ders saati olarak planlanan ”Ağız-diş sağlığı” konusu yürütülmüştür. Araştırma karma yöntem ile desenlenmiştir. Veriler, kontrol grupsuz deneysel desen ve gözlem yoluyla toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları, fen ve teknoloji dersinde kukla kullanımının öğrencilerin derse katılımını artırdığını ve öğrenmeyi sağladığını ortaya koymuştur.

The purpose of this research is to determine how the puppet usage effect student’s learnings and participation to the classroom talkings in science education. The research was carried out at Bahçekonak elementary school’s 5-A class with 15 students in Samsun province. The researcher, conducted “mouth-dental health” subject which is planned based upon the 5E learning model in four class hour. Data were collected through observation and experimental design without control group. The result of research showed that the usage of puppets in the science and technology lessons increased students participation to the lessons and provided meaningfull learning.
