COĞRAFYA ÖĞRETMEN ADAYLARININ COĞRAFYA ALGILARI: TÜRKİYE ÖRNEĞİ

Bu araştırmanın amacı, coğrafya öğretmen adaylarının, “coğrafya algılarını” analiz etmek ve çeşitli değişkenlere göre farklılık gösterip göstermediğini ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmada çalışma grubunu, Türkiye’deki mevcut bütün coğrafya eğitimi programlarının bulunduğu sekiz (8) üniversitenin coğrafya öğretmenliği programına devam eden 418 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak 22 maddelik 5 dereceli Likert tipi bir “Coğrafya algı ölçeği” ile öğrencilerin kişisel bilgilerini elde etmeye yönelik 5 sorudan oluşan bir anket formu kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda, coğrafya öğretmen adaylarının, coğrafya algıları; “(1)Bilimsel, (2)Küresel, (3)Politik ve (4)Ulusal Coğrafya” olmak üzere dört coğrafya matrisi/ faktörü biçiminde elde edilmiştir. Ayrıca; Coğrafya öğretmen adaylarının “coğrafya algılarını” yansıtan bu matrislerin, cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi, üniversite ve bölgesel dağılışlara göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılıklar gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir.

GGEOGRAPHY PERCEPTIONS OF PROSPECTIVE GEOGRAPHY TEACHERS: EXAMPLE OF TURKEY

The aim of this research is to analyze the “geography perceptions” of the prospective teachers of geography teachers and to reveal whether it differs by diverse variables. The workgroup in this research consists of 418 prospective teachers going on their education at the departments of geography teaching at eight (8) universities where all available geography teaching programs are available. As a data collection tool, a “geography perception scale” in type of 5 point likert scale with 22 items and a questionnaire form consisting of 5 questions to analyze the personal information of the students. As a result of the analyses done, geography perceptions of the prospective geography teachers have been obtained through four (4)geography matrixes/factors as (1)Scientific, (2)Global, (3)Political, and (4)National Geography. Moreover; it has been determined that these matrixes, reflecting the “geography perceptions” of the prospective geography teachers differ meaningfully by gender, class level, university and regional distributions.
