KİMYA PROBLEMLERİNİN ÇÖZÜMÜNE ÇEVİRME FAKTÖRÜ KULLANIMININ ETKİSİ

Bu çalışma, algoritmik kimya problemlerinin doğru çözümüne çevirme faktörü kullanımının etkisini araştırmak için yapılmıştır. Bunun için, temel kimya problemleri içeren 25 soruluk çoktan seçmeli bir test, Genel Kimya dersi alan Selçuk Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Biyoloji Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı ve İlköğretim Matematik Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı öğrencileri ile Analitik Kimya konularını içeren Kimya-III dersi alan Fen Bilgisi Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı öğrencilerine uygulandı. Bu uygulama 2006-2007 öğretim yılı güz döneminde okuyan toplam 134 öğrenciyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ayrıca, Kimya Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı 5. sınıfta okuyan 30 öğrenciyle, kimya problemlerinin çözümünde kullanılan bu metodun olumlu ve olumsuz yönleriyle ilgili yazılı ve sözlü mülakatlar gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilerin analizi, öğrencilerin kimya problemlerinin çözümünde çevirme faktörü kullanmalarının problemleri anlayarak çözmelerine ve birim hatalarını minimuma indirmelerine katkıda bulunduğu sonucunu ortaya çıkarmıştır.

EFFECT OF THE USE OF CONVERSION FACTOR IN THE SOLUTION OF CHEMISTRY PROBLEMS

This study has been performed to investigation the effect of the use of conversion factor, in the correct solution of algorithmic chemistry problems. With this aim, multiple choice test including 25 questions about general chemistry has applied to the students who took General Chemistry Lesson in Selcuk University Education Faculty in Biology, Primary Education Maths Departments and to the students of Science Department who took Chemistry III Lesson which includes Analytical Chemistry subjects. This application has been performed with 134 students in total at first term of 2006-2007 academic years. Also, written and oral interviews have been carried out with 30 fifth-class students of Chemistry Education Department about the negative and positive aspects of this method used in the solution of chemistry problems. The analysis of the data inferred from that helped the students to solve understanding the chemistry problems and minimize their mistakes about units.
