LENGTH-WEIGHT RELATIONSHIPS AND CONDITION FACTOR OF TWO PALAEMONID SHRIMP IN HOMA LAGOON (IZMIR BAY, AEGEAN SEA)

TAHİR ÖZCAN1 , Ertan Dağlı2 , Gülnaz ÖZCAN3

This study aimed to provides length-weight relationship and condition factor of two palaemonid shrimp (Palaemon adspersus and Palaemon elegans) in Homa Lagoon, İzmir Bay. Nets took the samples and fish scoop net. Based on the b-value of LWR, the growth type of P. adspersus is positively allometric. Likewise, the relationships of female and pooled-sexes P. elegans was positively allometric, while that of male P. elegans was negatively allometric. The value of correlation coefficients was more than 90% for both male and female showed firm relation between length carapace and body weight. The value of both shrimp condition factor ranged from 0.29-4.69 and included to flat (thin) body shrimp.
