EFFECT OF BORİC ACİD ON BİOPRODUCTS İN PYROLYSİS OF SUNFLOWER MEAL

İkbal Ay Keçeli1 , Bahattin Aydınlı2

This study investigated the effects of boric acid addition on bioproduct efficiency during the pyrolysis process, which is a sustainable method, by evaluating industrial agricultural wastes such as sunflower meal. In the experimental studies, for comparison, unmixed biomass and sunflower meal samples with 6.6% boric acid addition were pyrolyzed at 400, 450, 500, and 550°C. The solid, liquid, and gaseous products obtained were evaluated quantitatively. The findings showed that boric acid addition increased biochar yield, especially at low temperatures, while it decreased the ratio of liquid and gaseous products at high temperatures. It was observed that boric acid addition may have limiting effects in terms of pyrolysis efficiency. The study provides an important basis for other studies in terms of the effect of boric acid addition on the pyrolysis process and result.
