SÜRDÜRÜLEBİLİR KENTSEL DÖNÜŞÜMÜN BOYUTLARI

Habsa Abdi Farah1

DIMENSIONS OF SUSTAINABLE URBAN TRANSFORMATION

Habsa Abdi Farah1

This article examines the phenomenon of sustainable urban transformation through a multidisciplinary approach, focusing on ten key dimensions: environmental, social, economic, transportation and infrastructure, climate change adaptation, planning, scientific, physical, legal, and bioharmological aspects. Using a literature review methodology, relevant sources were examined, and both the theoretical frameworks of each dimension and their practical implications in urban planning processes were evaluated. The study emphasizes that urban policies developed in line with sustainability principles should not only ensure environmental protection but also social inclusivity, economic resilience, and cultural continuity. The analysis identifies discrepancies between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation, deficiencies in integration among dimensions, and challenges in local prioritization. Specifically, it highlights how neglecting issues such as social justice, participatory governance, and the preservation of cultural values limits the success of transformation policies. The study concludes that for sustainable urban transformation to succeed, all dimensions must be evaluated in an integrated manner, and context-specific, holistic strategies should be adopted.
