Anne-babaların iyi-kötü, doğru-yanlış algıları, örnek durumlar ve davranışlar karşısında gösterdikleri tepkiler yoluyla, çocukta ahlaki eğitimin temelleri atılır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, anne-babaların ahlak ve ahlak eğitimi kavramlarını nasıl tanımladıklarını belirlemek ve çocuklarına ahlaki eğitim verirken kullandıkları yöntemleri belirlemektir. Çalışmanın örneklemini 50 gönüllü ebeveyn oluşturmuştur. Katılımcı görüşleri yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu aracılığı ile alınmıştır. Toplanan veriler üzerinde içerik analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen verilere göre ebeveynler ahlak kavramını “Birey, toplum ve yaratan açısından uyulması gereken kurallar; manevi değer ve davranışlar; iyi ve güzel huy” olarak tanımlamışlardır. Ebeveynler ahlak eğitimin temeli olarak aileyi görmekle birlikte medya, okul ve çevrenin de ahlaki eğitimde etkili olduğunu belirtmişlerdir. Ebeveynlerin ahlak eğitiminde daha çok telkin yöntemini kullandıkları, davranışları ile örnek olmaya çalıştıkları belirlenmiştir. Ebeveynlerin ahlak eğitimine ilişkin önerileri incelendiğinde, öncelikli olarak ailelerin ahlaki eğitim açısından geliştirilmesi yönünde önerilerde bulundukları görülmüştür.

The basis of moral education in children is established through the good-bad, true-false perceptions of their parents and the reactions that their parents show in response to exemplary situations and behaviors. The purpose of this study was to determine how parents describe the concepts of morality and moral education and to identify the methods they use to teach children their moral education. The sample of the study consisted of 50 volunteer parents. Participant opinions were collected through a semi-structured interview form. Content analysis was conducted on the collected data. According to the obtained data, the parents defined the concept of morality as "the rules that must be obeyed in terms of individual, society and creator; spiritual values and behaviors; being good-tempered and nice". Apart from viewing family as the basis of moral education, parents stated that media, school and community were also influential on moral education. It was determined that parents mostly used preaching as the method in moral education and tried to set an example through their behavior. When parents' suggestions on moral education were examined, it was observed that they primarily made suggestions regarding development of families in terms of moral education.
