Cumhuriyetin kurulması ve Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ün çabaları ile birlikte kadınların birçok alanda geniş haklar elde etmesi, onların iş yaşamlarının aktif olarak başlamasında büyük rol oynamıştır. Tarihsel tarama yönteminin kullanıldığı çalışma, büyük önderin Türk kadınına verdiği önemi, onları her alanda erkeklerle eşit haklara sahip görmek istemesi ve bu yönde göstermiş olduğu çabaları ortaya koymak açısından önem taşımaktadır. Özellikle kılık kıyafet inkılâbı, Türk kadınının çehresini yeniden yapılandırmış, modernleşme ve çağdaşlaşmanın bir göstergesi olarak Cumhuriyet döneminin en önemli mücadele alanı olmuştur. Cumhuriyet ile Türk kadınının kazanmış olduğu haklar, etkin biçimde çalışma hayatının içersinde yer alması, moda olgusundan haberdar olmalarını ve değişen moda çizgilerini de yakından takip etmelerini sağlamıştır. Cumhuriyetten günümüze her dönemin değişen dinamikleri, kadınların çalışma giysilerine yansımış; ilk yıllarının klasik şıklığı, günümüzde yerini rahatlığın ön plana çıktığı çizgilere bırakmıştır.

Women’s acquisition of extensive rights in many fields by the help of the foundation of the republic and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s efforts, plays a great role in the beginning of their professional work life. This study, in which the historical scanning technique is used, has an importance due to its purpose of pointing out the great leader’s consideration for Turkish women, his desire to see women possessing equal rights with men in every field and his efforts to achieve these objectives. Especially the clothing and costumes reform has recreated the appearance of the Turkish women and has been the most important struggle of the Republic era as an indicator of modernization. The rights obtained by Turkish women by the foundation of the republic and consequently the active involvement of the Turkish women in working life allowed them to be aware of the fashion phenomena and closely follow the changing fashion trends. Dynamics of every epoch since the founding of the republic has been reflected on the women’s working clothes and nowadays, the classical elegance of the early years has left its place to the trends where the comfort is the main concern.
