Özet: Kültürel bir sembol olan Karagöz, aynı zamanda oyun niteliği ile iletişimsel bir gösterge düzlemi oluşturur. Bu bağlamda Karagözde yer alan zaman, mekan, konu, dil ve tiplemeler kendi içinde biçimsel ve anlamsal pek çok sembol taşır. Bu araştırmada Karagöz oyunlarındaki zaman, mekan, konu, dil ve tiplemeler biçimsel ve anlamsal olarak dizge halinde incelenmiştir. Bu dizgelerin her birinde sembolik açıdan ortak ve ayrı özellikler belirlenerek ortak bir okuma yaklaşımı sağlanmıştır.

Abstract: As a cultural symbol, Karagöz at the same time forms a communicative semiotic plane by its theatrical presentation character. In this context, time, space, theme, language and typecasting hold many form wise and semantic symbols in their essences. In this research, time, space, theme, language and typecasting in Karagöz theatrical presentations have been investigated in semiotic and semantic systems. A common reading approach has been provided by defining symbolically common and different properties in every one of mentioned systems.
