THE EFFECTS OF REGULAR EXERCISE PROGRAMME ON THE LIPID PROFILE IN ADOLESCENT TERM FOOTBALLER

Recep KÜRKÇÜ 1

22 footballers and 12 sedentary individuals total of 34 persons their age span from 13 to 16 years old, were chosen for the study. The footballer group were training regularly 3 days a week for 2 hours. Sedentary individuals did not do regular exercises during the same period. Members of the both groups had a similar age and body mass index. The venous blood samples were been collected from the both groups. From the samples, levels of Trigliseride (TG), total cholesterol (TK), high-density-lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL), low-density-lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL) and very-low-density-lipoprotein-cholesterol (VLDL) were measured. Results were evaluated using the Student's t-test. According to our results, levels of TG and LDL of footballers were found to be significantly lower than those of sedentary individuals (p<0.05), where as the VLDL level were found to be higher than those of sedentary individuals (p<0.05). Results show that TG and LDL levels, which are important risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases, were lower in the sample taken from footballers, and the VLDL level which is accepted as a protective measure for the cardiovascular diseases, were higher than of those of sedentary individuals.
