Lejyonella, “Legionella pneumophilla” isimli bakterinin sebep olduğu ve tedavi edilmediği takdirde ölümcül olabilecek bir zatürree türü olup dünyada her yıl binlerce kişiyi etkilemektedir. Özellikle hastaneler ve oteller gibi kapsamlı tesisat ünitelerine sahip mekanlarda görülen bu bakteri, bulaşmış olduğu suyun hava karışımı ile (aerosol) solunması durumunda insana bulaşır. Tesisat sistemlerinde, bu bakterilerin oluşabileceği noktaların tespit edilip gerekli önlemlerin, doğru tasarım ve uygun mühendislik planlamalarıyla alınması durumunda hastalığın oluşumu engellenebilmektedir.

Legionella, caused by bacteria of “Legionella pneumophilla” and can be fatal type of pneumonia unless treated, has infected thousands of people worldwide each year. These bacteria appeared especially in hospitals and hotels were having extensive sanitary unit. It is infected with water air mixture (aerosol) and transmitted the humans by inhalation cases. In plumping system, the points of bacteria formation should be determined and the necessary precaution should be taken. Thanks to proper design and proper engineering planning so this disease can be prevented.
