AN URBAN FURNITURE DESIGN PROCESS IN THE EXAMPLE of HATUNİYE NEIGHBORHOOD AND NERGIS (HELKIS) NEIGHBORHOOD

This study was carried out as a lecture and course assistant aid within the scope of the KPM304 Urban Design Workshop-2 given in the Department of Urban Design and Landscape Architecture of the Amasya University Faculty of Architecture in the Spring Semester of the 2019-2020 Academic Year. The aim of the study; by identifying urban design problems and taking into account user requests, the students should be able to design urban furniture elements that are compatible with the historical urban texture of Amasya, starting from the city scale to the neighborhood and street scale. Scope of the study, using a literature review and observational and analytical studies, a 1/1000-scale Synthesis Sheet was prepared and a common Concept Sheet was created by group members. The urban furniture elements to be designed for the solution of the problem were determined, these urban furniture elements were designed, and the resulting products created. The process of preparing a common Proposal Sheet, in which the products were explained in detail, was carried out by the group members. At the end of the study, under the direction of the lecturer and the course assistant, the students designed the urban furniture elements for Hatuniye and Nergis (Helkıs) Neighborhood, which constitute one of the important tourism corridors of the city of Amasya, using renewable energy resources that are compatible with the historical fabric, original and suitable for their function.
