AHMET GÜNEŞTEKİN WORKS “LAYERS”

Ahmet Güneştekin is a son of a multi-child family lived in Garzan worker’s camp. The artist’s life adventure reveal to overcome the difficulties that are insuperable hardships with the capability, belief and effort, his works has been spectated to the most important art galleries of the world. He is one of the well-known figures in human history by reaching successful with limited opportunities. The study discusses relationship between Ahmet Güneştekin’s art and architecture to bring out the unique items in his works while they are created. These items are named to be “layers” for classification. With an architectural perspective, Ahmet Güneştekin’s layers are determined as mysterious myths, geometry, craftsman technique, light and construction. In addition to these five layers, spectator layer are noticed. This layer is produced by spectator after completion of the work. Güneştekin’s works are evaluated by these layers. In the survey of Güneştekin’s art from past to future, it is aimed to bring out cultural, social, artistic, temporal and formal values in view of architecture. As architecture has become meaningful with people, the art of Güneştekin is an installation which is characterized with spectator. Each layer is a part of this installation identity.
