İnsan, çevre ve toplum karşılıklı etkileşim içinde olan birim ve alanlardır. Toplumun yapıtaşı olarak insanın, tarihi süreç içinde çevre ile etkileşimi farklılıklar göstererek makro anlamda farklı sonuçlar doğurmuştur. İlk zamanlar uyum ve mikro istismarla başlayan ilişki zaman içerisinde yüksek düzeyde tahrip ve sömürü boyutuna ulaşmıştır. Toplumlar avcı-toplayıcı, tarımcı ve endüstriyel tipte olmak üzere üç tipte ele alınmıştır. Sınıflamada tarihsel süreç içinde toplumların geçirdiği değişimler önemsenmiştir. Bu çerçevede tarihsel süreç içinde ideal tip olarak kavramlaştırılan toplum tiplerinde, insan çevre ilişkileri farklı özellikler göstermektedir. Endüstriyel toplumlar, çevre sorunlarının ortaya çıkışına kaynaklık eden organizasyonlar olarak görülmektedir. Endüstriyel toplumlarda; nüfus artışı, sanayileşme, kentleşmeye bağlı olarak ortaya çıkan yaşam biçimleri ve üretim ilişkileri çevreyi olumsuz yönde etkileyerek çevre sorunlarının ortaya çıkmasına kaynaklık etmiştir.

People, enviroment, community are unit and field. They mutual relations with each other. During ages as a social structure people’s behaviours changed according to envıronment interaction and because of this in macro sense different conclusions was occured. First of all the relationship started in unison and with micro exploitations later it reached the highest size of demolition and exploitation. Community handeled as three type: Hunter-Gatherer, agriculturist, industrial. When the separation was done their exchange which during history was considered. Industrial community are seen as organizations which are source of emergence enviroment proplems. In industrial community connect to population increase, industrilazation, urbanization life style, relations of production acted and caused emergence of environment problems.
