THE METHODS OF THERAPY WITH MUSIC

This study discusses firstly the emergence of the music, its interaction with societies and in this context, the importance of society’s mental state in relation to society’s structure and music. The study discusses how civilizations used the music in the treatment of illnesses by giving a few examples. As to the music therapy of Turks, the study informs about the music therapy methods of Central Asian Turks and therapy methods of Shamanists and doctors called Baksı. The opinions of important people such as Farabi, İbni Sina about the music therapy are emphasized in the research. It is also involved in the research that which mode is good for which illnesses, what modes are used in the therapies and that Seljuks and Ottomans use the same methods. In addition, the research includes the studies carried out in our country and in the world. This study deals with the methods of therapy with music, its application methods and music therapy methods put into practice today in terms of community health care. It searches for answers to some questions such as “What are the effects of music therapy’s methods carried out?” and “How were they carried out?”
