Bu çalışmanın amacı ilköğretim öğrencilerinin matematiğin doğasına yönelik inançlarını belirlemeye yönelik bir ölçek geliştirmektir. Ölçek Trabzon ilindeki dört ilköğretim okulunda öğrenim gören 115 öğrenci üzerinde uygulanmıştır. Ölçekten elde edilen veriler üzerinde faktör yapısının belirlenmesinde açıklayıcı faktör analizine, elde edilen modelin doğruluğunun test edilmesinde ise doğrulayıcı faktör analizine başvurulmuştur. Verilerin analizinde SPSS 12.0 ve Lisrel 8.80 programları kullanılmıştır. Açıklayıcı faktör analizi bulgularına göre ölçeğin özdeğeri 1’den büyük olan iki faktörlü bir yapıya sahip olduğu görülmüştür. İki faktör ölçek varyansının %59,983’unu açıklamaktadır. Ölçeğin iç tutarlılık katsayısı ise 0,885 olarak bulunmuştur. 11 maddeden oluşan modelin doğruluğunun test edilmesi için yapılan doğrulayıcı faktör analizi sonucu elde edilen uyum iyiliği indeksleri GFI=0,88 AGFI=0,82 CFI=0,88 SRMR=0,072 RMSEA=0,090 olarak kabul edilebilir düzeyde bulunmuştur. Faktörlere giren maddeler incelendiğinde; 1. faktör “yarı deneyselci bakış”, 2. faktör “mutlakçı bakış” olarak isimlendirilmiştir.

The aim of this study is to develop a scale in order to determine elementary students’ beliefs toward nature of mathematical knowledge. The scale was administered to 115 elementary school students at 4 elementary schools in Trabzon. Exploratory factor analysis have been carried out to determine the factor structure of the scale and confirmatory factor analysis have been carried out to test the validity of the model obtained. SPSS 12.0 and Lisrel 8.80 programs have been used for analysis of data. According to findings of exploratory factor analysis; 2 factors, whose eigenvalues are higher than 1, have been found in the scale and these factors explain %59,983 of total variance related to the scale. The internal consistency coefficient of the present scale is found as 0.885. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis carried out on 11 items for testing conformance of model, Goodness of fit index has been found as GFI=0,88 AGFI=0,82 CFI=0,88 SRMR=0,072 RMSEA=0,090 at a reasonable level. The subscale of the first factor “fallibilist view” contains six items (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6); the subscale of the second factor “Absolutist view” contains five items (7, 8, 9, 10, 11).
