Araştırma öğretmenlerin ve okul yöneticilerinin empati kavramını tanımlamalarına, kendilerinin ve diğerlerinin empatik davranma düzeylerini algılamalarına ilişkin görüşlerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın evreni Ankara Yenimahalle İlçesi A.A Lisesi öğretmenleri ve okul yöneticileridir. Örneklem ise 10 öğretmen ve 5 okul yöneticisinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulan soru formu kullanılmış, veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler ile elde edilmiştir. Empati kavramı pek çok bilimsel yayında araştırmaya katılanlar tarafından biliniyor olarak kabul edilmektedir. Bu araştırmanın bulguları arasında; öğretmenlerin ve okul yöneticilerinin empatinin tam karşıtı durumların empati olarak tanımladığı, empatiye ilişkin kavram kargaşası yaşandığı, benmerkezci bir bakışla tanımlandığı, empatinin gelişime açık bir beceri olarak değerlendirildiği yer almaktadır.

Empathy can be defined as the process of understanding a person’s feelings, thoughts and behaviors entering to his world of perception through another person’s life. Even though it is theorized in the discipline of psychology, it is also used in almost every other disciplines and has also begun to be used in daily language. The concept that draws the attention of the academists, is considered to be known by the participants of investigation in many scientific publications. One of the important findings of the study is the fact that the individuals identify empathy as the situations which are just the opposite of it. The purpose of the study was to investigate how the teachers and school administrators define the concept of empathy and how they perceive the level of their empathic behavior and of the others. The population of the research consisted of A.A. High school administrators and teachers in Yenimahalle District; the sample consisted of 10 teachers and 5 school administrators.
