SHÇEK bağlı çocuk yuvası ve yetiştirme yurtlarında görevli grup sorumlularının empati düzeylerinin belirlenerek (bağımlı değişken), cinsiyet, grup sorumluluk süresi, mesleki kıdem ve gruplardaki çocuk sayısı değişkenlerine (bağımsız değişkenler) göre incelenmesi bu araştırmanın amacını oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma tarama modelindedir. Araştırma, 20 grup sorumlusu öğretmenin katılımıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Empati düzeyleri hakkında veri toplamak için “Empati Ölçeği”, bağımsız değişkenler hakkında bilgi toplamak için araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” kullanılmıştır. Empati ölçeği 2004 yılında Baron-Cohen ve diğerleri tarafından geliştirilmiş, Bora ve Baysan tarafından 2009 yılında Türkçeye uyarlanmıştır. Veriler betimsel istatistikler (frekans ve yüzde), Kruskal Wallis-H Testi ve Mann Whitney-U testi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda grup sorumlusu öğretmenlerin toplam empati puanlarının cinsiyet, grup sorumluluk süresi, mesleki kıdem değişkenlerine göre anlamlı derecede farklılık gösterdiği saptanmıştır. Grup sorumlusu öğretmenlerin toplam empati puanlarının gruplarındaki çocuk sayısı değişkenine göre anlamlı düzeyde farklılaşmadığı saptanmıştır.

The purpose of this research was to determinate the empathy levels (dependent variable) of the responsible persons in groups at nurseries and children’s homes which are subject to social services and children society for the protection of children (SHÇEK) and to investigate them according to the some variables (gender, duration of group responsibility, seniority and number of children in groups). The research was performed as a descriptive study. The research was conducted with 20 responsible teachers in groups. “Empathy Scale” was used to collect data about the empathy levels of the responsible persons in groups at nurseries and children’s homes which was the dependent variable of the research and “Individual Information Form” which was* developed by the researcher was used to collect data about the independent variables. The empathy scale was developed by Baron-Cohen in 2004 and was adapted to Turkish in 2009 and validity and reliability tests were done by Bora and Baysan. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics (frequency and percentage), Kruskal Wallis-H Test and Mann Whitney-U Test. In conclusion, meaningful difference was found among the empathy points of the responsible teachers in groups and their genders, responsibility durations and seniorities. Besides, there was no difference between the empathy points of the responsible teachers in groups and children number in groups.
