Cografya, dünyanin fiziki ve kültürel boyutlarini bütünlestirerek inceleyen bir bilimdir. Cografyanin amaçlarindan biri, yerel ve evrensel düzeyde yasam tarzlarina, kültürel çesitlilige etki eden etmenlere farkindalik gelistirmektir. Gerek yöresel farkliliklari, zengin etnik çesitliligi ve gerekse tarihi kültürel birikimiyle Türkiye kültür zengini bir ülkedir. Bu arastirmada yapilandirmaci Cografya ögretiminde halk kültüründen yararlanilmasinin ögretmen adaylarinin ögrenmelerine etkilerinin degerlendirilmesi amaçlanmistir. 40 ögretmen adayinin katildigi arastirma nitel arastirma desenlerinden durum çalismasiyla gerçeklestirilmistir. Görüsmeyle toplanan veriler, içerik analiziyle çözümlenmistir. Gözlem kayitlari, görüsme verilerini desteklemek için kullanilmistir. Geography is a science which examines the world through integrating physical and cultural dimensions. One of the goals of geography teaching is to create awareness on the factors which have an impact on the life styles and cultural diversity both in local and global levels. Turkey is a culturally rich country with her regional diversities, her multiethnic society and with her cultural background. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effects of prospective teachers learning constructivist geography teaching based upon local folk culture. 40 prospective teachers participated in the research was carried out through a case study which is one of the qualitative research designs.
