Tanin'in ilk sayısı, II. Meşrutiyet'in tipik atmosferi içinde 1 Ağustos 1908'de yayınlanır. Güçlü bir kadronun kontrolünde yayınlanan gazete, kısa süre içinde kendini çalkantılı ve hızlı gelişen bir sürecin siyasal gelişmelerinin içinde bulur. Bu yönüyle kendisini de şekillendiren siyasal ve toplumsal yapının, basın-siyaset ilişkisinin boyutlarının, kamuoyunda egemen kılınmaya çalışılan düşüncelerin, gündemi meşgul eden tartışmaların tüm bunların yanında gazeteciliğin mesleki gelişiminin incelenebileceği önemli bir örnektir. Tarafsızlık vurgusuna rağmen İttihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti'ne hiç sarsılmayan "yandaşlık" ve "içten bağlılık" gazetenin yayın politikasını belirleyen temel ilke olarak değerlendirilebilir...

The first issue of Tanin was published on 1st August 1908 under the typical atmosphere of 2nd Constitutional Period. Published by a strong editorial team, the newspaper found itself in a period of turmoil and rapidly changing political conflicts. Therefore, it provides a significant example to analyze political and social structure of the era also shaping the newspaper itself, the dimensions of relationship between the press and politics, the opinions aimed to be cultivated within the society, the discussions shaping public opinion and agenda and the professional development of journalism. Despite its alleged impartial stance, its "unshakable partisanship" and "devotion" for the Committee of Union and Progress could be described as the main component of newspaper's publishing policy...
