Bilgi toplumuna geçiş süreci ile birlikte, günümüzde teknolojik gelişmenin en fazla etkisini bilişim alanında görmekteyiz. Yaşamımızda gerçekleşen birçok iletişim biçimi internet aracılığı ile sanal bir boyuta taşınmıştır. Sosyal iletişim ağları, kullanıcılara, kendilerini tanımlamaları, çeşitli sosyal ilişkiler geliştirmeleri ve hatta öğretme-öğrenme süreceni yeniden şekillendirmeleri yönünde yeni imkanlar sunmaktadır. Hızla gelişen bilişim teknolojisi, eğitimde de yeni olanaklar, kolaylıklar sunarken, aynı zamanda eğitimcilerin yeni teknolojiye uyum sağlamalarını ve eğitsel ve mesleki gelişimde teknolojiden tam yararlanmalarını zorunlu kılmaktadır. Bu çalışma, alan yazın bilgisine dayalı olarak, sosyal ağ sitelerinin eğitsel ortamlardaki işlevselliğini belirlemek ve okul yöneticilerinin ve öğretmenlerin mesleki gelişimi açısından ulaşılan bilgiler ışığında öneriler geliştirmek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir.

Concomitant with the process of transition to information society, nowadays we see the impact of technological development mostly on the field of information and communication technology. Through the internet technologies, various communication forms in our lives have been conveyed to a virtuous dimension. Social networks have offered new opportunities to users for identifying themselves, developing new social relationships, and even forming over again learning-teaching process.
