Araştırmanın amacı, “PowerPoint” ile yapılan coğrafya ders sunumlarının etkililiğinin, ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin görüşlerine dayanarak değerlendirmektir. Araştırmaya, 2009-2010 eğitim-öğretim yılında, Manisa ilinin Turgutlu ilçesindeki liselerde öğrenim gören 300 öğrenci katılmıştır. Tarama modelinin kullanıldığı bu araştırmadaki verilerin analizinde betimsel istatistiklerin yanında, t- testi ve tek yönlü varyans analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda öğrenciler; “PowerPoint” ile yapılan coğrafya derslerini olumlu bulduklarını, dersteki başarılarının arttığını ve konuları daha iyi anladıklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Öğrencilerin “PowerPoint” ile yapılan coğrafya dersine ilişkin görüşleri cinsiyete göre anlamlı farklılık göstermemiş fakat öğrenim gördükleri sınıf düzeyine göre anlamlı farklılık göstermiştir. Bu araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre, coğrafya dersi yalnızca “PowerPoint” sunuma dayalı etkinliklerle yapılmamalı ve diğer yöntem, teknik ve araçlarla desteklenmelidir.

The purpose of the research is to evaluate the efficacy of geography lesson via “PowerPoint” presentations based on the secondary school students’ views. A total of 300 students attending to secondary schools in Turgutlu county of Manisa joined the research within 2009-2010 academic year. In the analysis of the research data t test and one way variant analysis were used along with descriptive statistics through survey model. According to the research, students found the “PowerPoint” presentation of the geography lesson positive, they stated that their success increased and they understood the lessons better. The research students’ views towards the efficacy of geography lesson via “PowerPoint” presentations did not indicate a meaningful variation according to gender but showed a meaningful difference according to their class levels. According to the research participants’ views, organizing the lesson only with “PowerPoint” presentation based activities should be supported by other methods, techniques and audio-visual aids.
