Bu araştırmanın amacı, ilköğretim 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin yeni ilköğretim matematik programı kapsamında yaratıcı problem çözme becerilerini incelemektir. Araştırma 2006–2007 eğitim öğretim yılının ikici yarıyılında Bursa’nın İnegöl ilçesinde yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini İnegöl ilçesindeki 6. sınıf öğrencileri arasından rasgele örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen 108 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmada özellikle yeni ilköğretim programına göre yetiştirilen öğrencilerin yaratıcı problem çözme becerileri incelenmiştir. Bu araştırma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden içerik analizi modeli çerçevesinde yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak açık uçlu, kapalı uçlu, eksik bilgili ve problem kurma yaklaşımını içeren 10 adet sorudan oluşan bir test kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin problem çözme stratejileri ve problem kurma yaklaşımına verdikleri cevaplardan elde edilen verilerin bir sınıflandırılması yapılmıştır.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the creative problem solving skills of elementary 6th grade students within the context of new elementary mathematics education curriculum. This study was undertaken during the 2006-2007 school years’ second semester in İnegöl (within Bursa). The sample of this study consists of 108 students selected randomly from the 6th grade students in İnegöl. Specially in this study, creative problem solving skills of students’ that taught according as new elementary mathematics education curriculum were analyzed by contents analysis which one of the qualitative analysis techniques. Data were collected by 10 questions about open-ended mathematics questions, closed-ended mathematics questions and problem posing approach. The gained data from students’ answers to problem solving strategies and problem posing approach are classified.
