ÖZET Betimsel nitelikteki bu çalışmanın amacı, öğretmen adaylarının öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin beklenti düzeylerini belirlemektir. Bu amaçla 2008-2009 eğitim öğretim yılında Fırat Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde öğrenimine devam eden son sınıf öğrencileri ve tezsiz yüksek lisans programlarına kayıtlı öğrenciler araştırma evrenine alınmıştır. Araştırmada kullanılan beşli likert tipindeki ölçek araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilmiştir. Ölçekteki maddeler öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin olarak sosyo-kültürel, mesleki, maddi ve kariyer beklentileri biçiminde sınıflandırılmıştır. Geçerlik güvenirlik hesaplamaları için 119 kişi üzerinde pilot uygulaması yapılan ölçeğin Cronbach Alpha güvenirlik katsayısı .889, KMO değeri .757 ve Bartlett testi 2141,530 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde ilişkisiz örneklem t testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi, levene testi, MWU, KWH, ve Scheffe testlerinin yanında yüzde ve frekans hesaplamaları kullanılmıştır. ABSTRACT The aim of this descriptive study is to determine prospective teachers’ expectation level for teaching profession. For that aim, fourth year students of Education Faculty and non-thesis master’s program were included in the study. Five-point Likert-style scale used in the study was developed by the researchers. The items were classified into four categories named socio-cultural, professional, financial and career expectations. The scale was piloted on 119 prospective teachers for validity and reliability analysis. Cronbach alpha coefficient of the scale was calculated to be .889, KMO value was measured to be .757 and Bartlett’s test was calculated to be 2141,530. Independent samples t test, one way Anova, levene, MWU, KWH and Scheffe tests were used to analyze the data. Students opinions were analyzed in terms of gender and department variables.
